Average review score:

Wowsa
This is a highly readable discussion of the 33 and 34 act requirements of the SEC as they apply to accountants. I think it is essential reading for any Controller/ CFO or independent accountant about to perform work for and SEC registrant or private company about to file an s1.

I find it highly readable. The CD alone is worth the price.

Cornish Rex Cats (Cats Set III)
Published in School & Library Binding by Checkerboard Library (October, 2002)
Authors: Julie Murray and Abdo Publishing
Average review score:

Good introduction for kids
I was hesitant to get this book since the Devon Rex book in this series was filled with factual errors. This book is much better (I only found one error) and is a good introduction to this crazy breed for kids. It is clearly not meant for adults since the language is simple and very basic. My only real complaint is that the same cats are used repeatedly in the photos and I wish they used more cats to show the breed's variety.

The Covenant of Grace: A Biblico-Theological Study
Published in Paperback by P & R Press (January, 1992)
Author: John, Murray
Average review score:

Brief Intro to Covenant Theology
John Murray gives a brief, but excellent summation of Covenant Theology. This booklet helps answer the question as to whether their is primarily continuity or discontinuity between the Old & New Testaments.

Murray begins by defining covenant and gives a brief historical overview of the rise of covenant theology. Then he delves in to the biblical and theological realm of the covenant. He surveys the Noahic, Abrahamic, Mosaic, Davidic, and New Covenant as found in Scripture.

He concludes that the covenant is a unified theme throughout Scripture which speeks of God's relation of grace between His creation.

Also recommended for a more in-depth study: O. Palmer Robertson's "The Christ of the Covenants."

Crown Jewels from Nick Murray
This book is a culmination of all the articles Mr. Murray wrote for Dow Jones Investor Magazine. There are great pieces of information here to use to educate your clients who own investments, especially in these shaky markets. Should always be on your desk or readily accessible.

Creative Music Education: A Handbook for the Modern Music Teacher
Published in Paperback by MacMillan Pub Co (April, 1976)
Author: R. Murray Schafer
Average review score:

The best source of ideas for creative music pedagogy.
Schafer's approach is innovative, sensitive to the multiple demands made on music teachers in the school systems, and wide awake to the genuine creativity that exists in every student. I have used material and ideas from it for years and continue to find inspiration and ideas in its pages. It is a crime that this book has been out of print for so long.

Dark Odyssey
Published in Hardcover by Aperture (November, 1996)
Authors: Murray Sayle, Philip Jones, and Philip J. Griffiths
Average review score:

A Disturbing and Haunting Masterpiece
Phillip Jones Griffiths is one of the greatest living photographers today. This is no small achievement, and can only be clearly understood examining his photographs.
Griffiths is probably best known for his book "Vietnam, Inc." (many of those photographs are included in this edition) but many of his greatest are contained in this superb volume, including some images of the weary, haunted faces of the children of Wales, his birthplace.
Being Welsh, and on the recieving end of British expansionism, Griffiths clearly sympathises (and rightly so) with the Vietnamise civilians (on the recieving end of French AND American expansionism)whose pleading expressions demonstrate clearly how much Americans were "helping" them evade the "evil grip of communism".
If I were to own ONE book of photographs, I would without hesitation choose this volume, for it's images are not only an important documentation of one of the darkest pieces of American history, but an amazing and invaluable work of art.

The Deeper Christian Life
Published in Paperback by Walker and Co. (June, 1987)
Author: Andrew Murray
Average review score:

Enlightenment
Summary: For those who have tried to live a 'Christian' life in their own power. This book pulls back the veil and allows one to see that it is impossible to lead the christian life w/o the guidance and comfort of the Holy Spirit.

Along with other titles such as 'Christians Guide to a Happy Life by Hannah Smith', 'They Found the Secret', and 'The Wonderful Spirit Filled Life by Dr. Charles F. Stanley' it has become clear to me that God wants us to succeed at this life. But, it is thru the guidance of the Holy Spirit that one begins to enjoy the Christian life.

The Delphi Method: Techniques and Applications
Published in Textbook Binding by Addison-Wesley Pub Co (June, 1975)
Authors: Harold A. Linstone and Murray Turoff
Average review score:

Free electronic copy now
This is still a very solid reference book to all the early work and the philosophy behind the method as well numerous exmaples of paper and pencil delphis which in the modern jargon were all examples of collaborative knoweldge bssis created through paper and pencil methods. Today there is some relevant work bringing this technology in to Information Systems and those doing this work should be more familiar with the roots of what they are doing.

The book still provides signiifcant insights for those working in this area on computers even if they called it by different names.

Demonic Mnemonics: Eight Hundred Spelling Tricks for Eight Hundred Tricky Words
Published in Paperback by Lake Pub Co (December, 1981)
Author: Murray Suid
Average review score:

Excellent resource for solving common spelling troubles.
This book not only explains why the specific word is spelled as it is, but also a mnemonic device to help you remember how to spell it in the future. A great tool for teachers, students, and business people alike. An example? A lot vs alot: reminder...Would you like a little, or a lot? You wouldn't spell a little as one word, so you definately wouldn't spell a lot as one word either.
